Blues & R&B Extravaganza Hosted by Eddie Scheer & the Love Dogs - October 5, 2019
Blues and R&B Extravaganza hosted by Eddie Scheer & The Love Dogs
with special guests Willie J. Laws, Johnny Blue Horn, Tim McHale & Bob Jones, plus Yamica Peterson Sat., October 5, 2019, 7:00 - 10:00 PM FREE! FREE! FREE! All ages welcome. Plenty of FREE parking. THE LOVE DOGS - The Dogs combine elements of jump blues, New Orleans R&B and early rock 'n' roll into their own powerhouse sound. Take one red-hot horn section (we're talkin' alto, tenor, baritone saxes - down and dirty.) Add liberal amounts of barrelhouse boogie-woogie piano and stinging Fender guitar. Pour over a funky and swinging rhythm section that Blues Review magazine called "the best in the business” and top it all off with a crazy and charismatic front man with one of the biggest blues voices around. Season with a few years on the road tearing up juke joints, festivals and concert halls across the U.S. and Canada and on both sides of the Atlantic. Sound tasty? It's a recipe for music and mayhem, for intensity and irreverence; it's The Love Dogs. WILLIE J. LAWS is the Last Prophet of the Funky Texas Blues. Often referred to as the "Real Deal", this born and raised Texas guitar-slinger, songwriter and vocalist creates a sound "which will grab you from the inside out". Willie makes music that is a soulful mixture of South Texas Blues/Funk, classic R&B, Country, Tex-Mex, Zydeco and Rock & Roll. Think Robert Cray meets BB King, visiting Jimi Hendrix. JOHNNY "BLUE HORN" MORICONI has entertained countless fans of music in Boston, Providence and all over the Northeast for almost 3 decades. He is a double-barreled performer as a virtuoso trumpeter and stirring vocalist encompassing a varied range of musical styles, from gritty Memphis R&B to rhythmic New Orleans second-line jazz; from swingin' Kansas City blues to heartfelt southern soul. TIM MCHALE & BOB JONES play the richest rock, friendliest folk, and most basic blues you can get this side of the Charles. YAMICA PETERSON is true R&B royalty. She is great-neice to jazz legend Sharon "Brown Sugar” Jones, the oldest granddaughter of Jean M. Jones, Portsmouth’s “Lady of Song” and daughter to New England Blues icon Pete Peterson. A soaring vocalist and riveting performer, she never fails to excite audiences and get them smiling and grooving. A terrific songwriter, she has made multiple recordings and her current projects are “Mica's Groove Train”, “Family Affair” and “The Mica-Sev Project.” |
