Thanks to all who came out for our first major event, Brown Box Theatre Project presents Hamlet. We had approximately 800 audience members over the three-night run. Can you believe it?! Thank you to everyone who donated on their way out. While we did win a substantial grant from the Harvard Allston Public Realm Flex Fund toward restoring electricity to the site, we are still short for the basest of scopes of work. So keep them donations coming! #NoMoreGenerators
What's next? SAVE THE DATE: 9/12 & 9/19 will be filled with live local bands, presented with Boston Hassle! See our SCHEDULE page for details! We have held several private/corporate volunteer clean-up days & have three more scheduled between now & mid-May. We raked out 140 bags of leaves! Yes, 140 bags!!! We are in the process of aerating, loaming & seeding the mounds facing the stage. Thanks to the Solomon Foundation for paying for the materials! We also want to thank the Esplanade Association for donating a 100 gallon watering tank to our project partner organization, the Charles River Conservancy. Watering the new grass seed is crucial for getting the grass to take. So all those dog-walkers strolling through the theater, please KEEP OFF THE GRASS while it is germinating. Thanks!!!
Today marked an amazing day for all of us here at FoHP! The day started with a wonderful article posted on the ARTery, WBUR's arts & culture blog. Be sure to check it out here: http://bit.ly/FoHP.
THEN, we were notified that Greater Greener Boston, focussing on greenways and placemaking & funded through the Barr Foundation, generously donated another $10,000 toward this endeavor! And last, but not least, our website went live! YAY! Now, what will tomorrow bring?! |
